It is imperative to make workers aware of the importance of knowing what it means if the result is HIV-negative or positive. If the result is HIV-negative, it could mean that the individual does not have the HI virus, or he/she may still be in the window period i.e. positive but not yet detectable.
A worker must continue with his/her lifestyle to avoid HIV infection and then be tested again after a few months. Prevention is essential because there is no cure for HIV. Encourage workers to maintain a healthy, responsible lifestyle at all times.
Workers should be informed of how sexual behaviour can cause HIV/AIDS and how changed sexual behaviour can protect them. Condoms can be made available free of charge and people can be shown how to use it.
