If the alleged offence is of a very serious nature or the presence of the employee would hinder the Employer’s investigation of the matter, the employee may be suspended on full pay pending the outcome of the hearing. Examples, where such suspension may be appropriate, would be where there is a reasonable fear that the employee would destroy records and documentation, or would attempt to intimidate witnesses.
If the employee requires access to the employer's premises to obtain documentation or other items necessary to enable him to prepare for the hearing, such access must be allowed but should be subject to supervision by a member of management whilst he is on the premises.
