Before examining the functions and duties, it is appropriate to provide a brief description and an introduction regarding trade union representatives (shop steward) in order to understand their broader functions in the organisation. After the broader functions have been discussed, it should be easier for the different role players to manage and interact with the shop steward relating to disciplinary issues in the workplace.
