It is the manager’s responsibility to get certain work done and if he has willing workers, its makes his job that much easier. The creation of a motivated body of workers has the following advantages:

  • Higher productivity
  • More satisfied and happier employees
  • Better morale
  • Lower labour turnover and absenteeism
  • Better relations between employer and employee

You will not achieve success as a manager if your employees are not motivated. You now have a few ideas/hints related to the motivation of your employees. It is your decision whether or not to use them. Just remember people differ from each other and everyone has his own specific needs and objectives. These concepts will therefore be applied differently to each individual. It is therefore important to get to know your employees well.

You can be ensured of a more productive body of workers if you build motivation and morale into your division. These positive approaches will not always have the desired effect. Negative approaches such as discipline, warnings and dismissal will sometimes have to be used to handle a problem. Use these negative approaches only as a last resort, as the measure of motivation and productivity which the positive approach can develop in your people, can never be obtained in this way.
