Definitions and Legal Limits Regarding Irrespirable Atmospheres

An irrespirable atmosphere is an atmosphere containing poisonous gases or a lack of sufficient oxygen as a result of combustible gas explosions, coal-dust explosions, combined gas and dust explosions, or mine fires, which can only be entered by persons wearing breathing apparatus.

The employer must establish and maintain a system of occupational hygiene measurements, as contemplated in section 12, of all working places where the following hazard limits prevail:
