People, and especially women, find that if they are feeling down, it helps to put on attractive clothes, do something interesting with their hair, or give special attention to their make-up. Many people find that if they look better to themselves in the mirror, it makes them feel better about themselves.

When people are depressed, they tend to look down a lot. When you feel miserable, concentrate on looking up, at the same time thinking of something pleasant, e.g. a walk on the beach. Throw back your shoulders and relax them. Relax your facial muscles, feel a little smile creeping around the corners of your mouth, feel your eyes lighting up as you visualise a favourite scene or hilarious situation.

Next time you feel miserable, push back your shoulders, look up, think of something pleasant, smile, go to a hilarious movie, avoid other miserable people, play happy energising music, improve your looks, wear clothes that make you feel good, do something practical where you can see a result that will make you feel satisfied. You’re not afraid to experiment a little, are you?
