Overview

The content of this course provides the potential facilitator with the essential knowledge and skills that will enable him/her to develop and master the competencies to plan, conduct and facilitate training in their field of expertise.

What you'll learn

Demonstrate an understanding of the characteristics of adult learners vs. children as learners
Identify principles of adult learning, conditions to learn effectively and different learning modalities
Understanding of the differences between traditional learning programmes and outcomes-based learning
Critically evaluate own learning modality in terms of its impact on facilitation style
The ability to prepare and write outcomes-based learning objectives to drive the facilitation of the learning programme
The ability to motivate learners for and explain outcomes-based learning
The ability to prepare the learners for outcomes-based learning – psychological climate
Evaluate group participation
Apply different techniques to link new knowledge to prior learning
Open interactive and participatory learning through the cooperative learning strategy
Manage the learning event productively through structuring
Focused application of a range of learning methodologies to enhance learning and the application of knowledge
Create and develop effective support material to enhance the learning experience
Knowledge of group dynamics and group member roles
Management of difficult group members
Effective application of assertive behaviour as a conflict management strategy
Demonstrate understanding of the communication process
Use different techniques to consolidate learning
Record responses
Reflect on the learning process to determine the extent to which each learner has achieved the outcomes
Reflect on the facilitator performance.
Build and the factors in the job that influence an employee’s motivation
