The purpose of this Outcome is to enable you to apply safety and standard operating procedures during loading and off-loading in terms of SANS 10231.
This Specific Outcome will enable you to:
- Extract and utilise information from relevant sources to ensure the safe handling of classified goods and substances.
- Adhere to the duties of the driver before proceeding on the route, in terms of SANS 10231, at all times.
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (relating to the class of substance/goods and related equipment) in order to prepare the vehicle for loading and off-loading.
- Ensure Personal Protective equipment, suitable to the class of substance, is worn during loading and off-loading.
- Ensure safety equipment and procedures suitable to the class of substance, are used during loading and off-loading.
- List the nine hazard classes and explain the properties of the class of substance transported.
- Explain the concept of compatibility as it relates to dangerous goods.
