Information has to be extracted from the documents from a consignor and consignee on the status of the classified goods and substances to ensure their safe handling.
Such information may be “Flammable”, ‘Radioactive”, “Explosive”, etc.
Each substance must have a safe operating procedure or method statement. It will detail the procedure to safely handle, store, load and unload the substance.
It will also state what equipment, facilities and requirements should be met and available.
