The 21st century is characterised by changes sweeping across the world. Globalisation has a major impact on the industrial world and organisations must be prepared to respond, and even anticipate change to remain competitive. The 4th Industrial Revolution is shifting all our paradigms. Many factors cause change in the business world and both organisations and the people within it are influenced by these changes. Change can be of the small-scale variety, for example coming to grips with an updated version of a computer program or it can be of the large-scale complexity, for example a new strategy that will result in a new corporate structure and operations.

There is no doubt that the pace of change is accelerating and is the norm rather than the exception. New legislation, changing customer needs, globalization, technological advancements and fluctuating demand and supply, to mention a few, have made change essential. Unfortunately, change causes a lot of anxiety, stress, and even resistance among those facing it.
