Lack of interpersonal skills is the cause of a lot stress. When you have trouble communicating your real feelings to others, the result is often stress combined with a sense of frustration. We will see in this unit that, how effective you are in interacting with others, relates to stress and a general sense of wellbeing.

Hardly a day goes by without us interacting with other people. It is often said that humans are the most social creates on this planet! The importance of the social world may be highlighted with the following question: ‘What can you achieve in life without the help and co-operation of other people’? - At best very little! We all need the help and support of other people. That is why we become ill, anxious, depressed and stressed if our human relations are poor. We are about to enter the social world, the world of inter-personal relations, work, family and leisure.
