Duties Of Persons Exposed To Hazardous Chemical Agents (HCA) (SO1/AC3)

Exposure to chemicals commonly used in workplaces can lead to a variety of short- and long-term health effects such as poisoning, skin rashes and disorders of the lung, kidney and liver.

The following occupations are considered a risk of exposure to hazardous substances:

Every person who is or may be exposed to an HCA must obey a lawful instruction given by or on behalf of the employer or self-employed person regarding:

  • HCA release prevention
  • The wearing of personal protective equipment
  • The wearing of monitoring equipment to measure personal exposure
  • Reporting for health evaluations and biological tests as required by these regulations
  • The cleaning up and disposal of materials containing an HCA
  • Housekeeping at the workplace, personal hygiene and environmental and health practices;
  • Information, instruction and training as contemplated in Regulation 3.
