Agricultural production relates to the utilization of natural resources in a sustainable manner. It is imperative to differentiate between renewable and non-renewable natural resources, their nature, and utilization. Furthermore, the agriculturalist must accept stewardship of such resources but in a sustainable manner. Sustainability refers to three important elements of agriculture, namely:

  • it must be economically viable,
  • it must be ecologically sound, and
  • it must be socially accountable.

Feasibility studies of any agricultural enterprise should be assessed accordingly. There is no other method of discounting the risk associated with the funding, management, and execution of agricultural enterprises.
