The field crop production volume for 2018/19 decreased by 5,6%, mainly as a result of decreases in the production of maize and oilseed crops (soybean, sunflower seed and groundnuts). Maize production decreased by 1,6 million tonnes (12,0%) from 2017/18. Soybean production decreased by 369 660 tonnes (24,0%), sunflower seed by 214 360 tonnes (23,9%) and groundnuts by 42 860 tonnes (66,5%) from 2017/18.
