The goal of merchandising is to close the sale after the advertising campaigns bring customers into the store. Merchandising consists of product display, pricing, store layout, signage, promotional events, and all manners of sales-driving techniques aimed at raising the profile and the profits of your small retail business.

Retail merchandising refers to the various activities which contribute to the sale of products to the consumers for their end-use. Every retail store has its own line of merchandise on offer to customers.
